FIFA World Cup 2018 finals have finally arrived. Today, Croatia will be taking on France, as both teams set out to create history. In order to celebrate the biggest sporting event of the year, Google has dedicated today’s Google Doodle to the two teams competing in the finals.
The doodle is a part of the original Google Doodle series that the search engine had created to celebrate the 32 teams who had qualified for the FIFA World cup in Russia. Each of these doodles featured guest artists from the 32 countries, who tried to illustrate best the culture of football in their respective countries. While Google displayed them all during the tournament, today’s doodle only showcases the ones from France and Croatia.
This year’s World Cup has been all about the underdogs. Teams like Belgium, Sweden, and Croatia have truly set history by outperforming the favorites like Spain, Germany, Portugal and Argentina. Belgium yesterday beat England for the third place, which has been the countries best performance in a World Cup ever.
