Fitbit, one of the major wearable brands globally, has announced the availability of its Ionic smartwatch, Flyer Bluetooth headphone and Aria 2 smart scale in India. Fitbit says Ionic, Flyer and Aria 2 fitness devices will be available across major retailers including Reliance Digital, Croma, Helios and other online platforms.
The Fitbit Ionic is the first smartwatch from the company that leverages the platform it acquired from smartwatch maker Pebble. The smartwatch was first launched globally in August last year as an effort to restrict the declining sales of its wearables. The Ionic builds on the health and fitness features that Fitbit is known for in the first place.
It features a new SpO2 sensor that allows the device to track deeper health vitals like sleep apnea in the future. The smartwatch also includes GPS tracker which will come especially handy for athletes who would like to track their run for example. Other improvements include improved heart rate tracking, on-device dynamic workouts and water resistance up to 50 meters.
The Fitbit Ionic also has other smart features like contactless payments, on-board music streaming, smart notifications and access to apps and watch faces via Fitbit’s dedicated app gallery. Despite all the features, the Fitbit Ionic can last up to five days on a single charge and its biggest feature is the cross-platform compatibility.
“With Ionic, we are delivering what consumers have not yet seen in a smartwatch – a health and fitness first platform that combines the power of personalization and deeper insights with our most advanced technology to date, unlocking opportunities for unprecedented health tracking capabilities in the future,” said James Park, co-founder and CEO of Fitbit.
In addition to these features, Fitbit also automatically tracks steps, calories, floors climbed and sleep stages of the user. It also allows to see cardio fitness level in the form of estimated VO2 Max and gives suggestions via Fitbit Coach companion app.
Alongside Ionic, Fitbit is also launching Aria 2 Wi-Fi Smart Scale that can be connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth and helps users to track and understand body composition including weight, body fat percentage, lean mass and BMI. Fitbit Flyer, on the other hand, is a wireless headphone that can pair with Fitbit Ionic or any other Bluetooth device.
The Flyer features a sweatproof design with customizable fit and supports music streaming, audio coaching from the Fitbit Coach app. The Fitbit Ionic is priced at Rs 22,990, and will be available in three different colors – silver gray tracker with blue gray band or smoke gray tracker with charcoal band or burnt orange tracker with slate blue band. The Fitbit Flyer and Aria 2 smart scale are priced at Rs 9,990 each, and all the three devices will go on sale starting next month.
