Fortnite has been ruling the roost of the battle-royale game scene along with Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds for the last year or so. And during this time developer Epic has come up with some innovative ideas to spice things up for gamers, like the previously seen 50 v 50 mode.
The latest Limited Time Mode or LTE that Fortnite will be getting is the 20 v 20 v 20 v 20 v 20 mode, which will go live today. As the name suggests, this is not a permanent mode, and it will only be available for a limited period of time.
As seen previously when the 50 v 50 mode was introduced, the gameplay tactics changed quite a bit to adjust to it. With bigger teams it almost became a free for all deathmatch style play. We can expect similar tactics in the new mode with five different teams. This would affect how people use voice chat as well.
Here’s what developer Epic had to say in their recent blog post. “We’ve been hammering away at Limited Time Modes! Getting you multiple playlists (solo, duo and squads) during LTMs is at the top of the priority stack. We’ve been using multiple data points (including your feedback) to iterate our existing LTM’s and to build brand new LTM’s. We are planning to quickly spin up a dozen or so LTMs, some of these may be more straightforward (e.g. along the lines of Sniper Shootout, Sneaky Silencer etc.). We also use LTMs to test new Shooting Models. From there, we want to make internal improvements so we can introduce more involved LTMs (e.g. “floor is lava”).”
Here are some of the Limited Time Modes that Fortnite will be getting in the next month or so:
Blitz Mode (shorter matches!)
Drop into the first circle
Generally less time between circles
Team sizes in between 50v50 and squads
