In what can be considered a rare statement, Apple’s manufacturing partner Foxconn said today it expects to manufacture 90 million units of the iPhone 6 in 2014. It expects the orders to be spread across the entire year. Apple partners are usually tightlipped about the company’s future plans, than giving Apple a reason to sever relationships as it does not take such statements lightly.

Foxconn, the world’s largest contract manufacturer, has been a close Apple partner for years and knows better than sending out a press release with such claims but here we have it.

Foxconn Projects Manufacturing of 90 million iPhone 6 in 2014

Foxconn, world’s leading manufacturer of computer components and systems, is expecting to manufacture 90 million units of the iPhone 6 from Apple in 2014. These orders are expected to land across the year.

Foxconn is expected to post an EPS of NT$9.29 (US$0.31) in 2014 and NT$10.26 in 2015. The growth rate of global smartphone shipments are expected to land at 28% in 2014 as compared to 40% in 2013. Sales of smartphones in mature markets are likely to edge up only 4%, down from 5% a year ago.
