In June 2017, Google added a new Editor’s Choice section to its Play Store, which along with curating lists of apps and games, also featured a quarterly list of the best Android apps and games. With the Q1 2018 having begun, Play store has released the first list of the year.
Before we head to naming the apps that made it to the list, it is sort of essential we first know the criteria Google uses to sort these apps. Google writes, “The new collections will showcase apps and games that deliver incredible user experiences on Android, use many of our best practices, and have great design, technical performance, localization, and device optimization.” A total of 22 new apps and 16 games made the cut for the first quarter of 2018.
Among the new Android Excellence apps, 1Tap app made it to the first spot. 1Tap is basically an expense tracking and book-keeping app. Second in line is Acorns, which is an investment guidance app, and the third position has been bagged by the Airbnb app. Also in the list are IFTTT, Clue, iReader, LinkedIn, and Video Editor, among others.
As for the Android Excellence games, Agent A has topped the list. Bit Heroes, Bloons Supermonkey 2, Dancing Line, Dead Warfare: Zombie, and Dragon Project made it to the top five. Idle Heroes, Lords Mobile, Lumino City, and Old Man’s Journey also made to the the list.
In addition to that, in case you are looking for new apps, Google has listed three news ones, that it wants you to try out. EyeEm, MusixMatch, and ViewRanger, are the ones Google recommends.
