Gionee today launched its new flagship device, the Elife E7 in India. The company has priced the phone for Rs 26,999 for 16GB variant and Rs 29,999 for 32GB variant.
The Elife E7 comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p display with 400ppi. It is powered by a Snapdragon 800 chipset clocked at 2.2GHz with Adreno 330 GPU. The smartphone’s RAM varies according to the internal memory, with the 16GB variant featuring 2GB of RAM and the 32GB variant featuring 3GB of RAM.
This is a camera-centric phone, with a 16-megapixel autofocus rear camera with a pixel size of 1.34µm, and an 8-megapixel front-facing snapper. The company claims that the primary camera of the phone provide best results even under ambient lighting conditions and works well under daylight and low light, and that the secondary camera on the phone works better than the iPhone 5S.
And to pump up the camera performance, Gionee has added some additional camera-related features like voice enabled trigger as well as touch trigger, auto makeup effects, intelligent scene recognition function, action shot mode called footprint mode, a meeting memo mode, and some other interesting editing options as well.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS, and 3G support. The phone will be available in an array of colors including blue, pink, green, yellow, orange, black and white.
On the software front, the phone runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean topped with Gionee’s own Amigo 2.0 UI.
This makes the Elite E7 the most affordable smartphone with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 chipset. On paper, it has no competition in its price segment and will compete with phones like the LG G2 and Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3. What remains to be seen is whether the Elife E7 performs as well as the company claims.
