Gionee M7 Power with 'FullView Display' to launch on September 26

The Gionee M7 Power is expected to feature a 6-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio.

Gionee will be launching a new smartphone called the M7 Power on September 26 in Thailand. Gionee’s latest teasers of the M7 Power on Weibo show its outlined design and highlight the smartphone’s large display. The Gionee M7 Power will have almost no bezels on the side which Gionee is advertising as “More than FullView Display”.

Prior to this announcement, Gionee had teased an M7 smartphone on Weibo (via GSMArena) as well. The teaser revealed the same outlined design of the M7 Power smartphone. The teaser also revealed a partnership with Beijing-based bike-sharing startup, Ofo to launch the M7. Although not clear, Gionee could very well be launching two smartphones, the M7 and M7 Power.

Recently, a Gionee smartphone with serial number SW17W08 was spotted on benchmarking website GFXBench. This smartphone is speculated to be the Gionee M7 Power. According to the GFXBench listing, the Gionee M7 Power features a 6-inch display with 720×1440 pixels resolution. The smartphone’s display is expected to have 18:9 aspect ratio. At the heart of the smartphone is the MediaTek Helio P25 octa-core processor clocked at 2.6GHz and Mali-T880 GPU. In terms of memory, the smartphone packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. For photography, the Gionee M7 Power sports a 5-megapixel camera on the rear and front as well. However, rumors suggest a dual-camera setup at the rear for the M7 Power. Both the rear and front cameras are capable of shooting 4k videos. With its “FullView Display” being the highlight of the awaited smartphone, Gionee appears to be following the latest trend in smartphones this year. This year saw companies like Samsung and LG who popularized “Infinity Display” and “FullVision Display” on the Galaxy S8 duo and LG G6 smartphones respectively.
