Google Allo for web

Google introduced the web version of its messaging app, Allo a month back. Similar to WhatsApp web, Google Allo works on the web now in Chrome browser, but for Android users only. Google promises rolling out this feature to Allo users on iOS soon. Google has now released a new and major update for Allo, which brings some of its mobile app features to the web. You can now search for GIFs, emoji, and stickers on Allo, and use the Whisper/Shout feature on the web.

Google Allo for web works pretty much the same way like it does on your smartphone. To start with, GIF, emoji, and sticker search are all bundled under one category. On the text bar, you will notice the emoji icon holding a magnifying glass indicating search. Tapping on this icon will prompt a popup on top with emojis on the left, and stickers on the right, and GIFs on the extreme right.

Emojis, stickers and GIFs are already available on Allo. To use them, simply tap on the individual icons. This update brings a universal search bar that allows you to choose from three animated reactions. For example, if you type ‘laugh’, emojis, stickers and GIFs related to it will appear for you to choose from.

Coming to the whisper/shout feature on Allo, it’s perhaps one of the most interesting things about the app. Typing out your messages in the upper case, or using tons of exclamation marks may not be enough to express your angst or excitement. With whisper/shout, you can increase or decrease the size of your text as per your excitement. After you type on the text bar, just press and hold the send button located on the right side, and slide up or down to either ‘Shout’ or ‘Whisper’. To recall, you can follow these steps to start using Allo for web on Chrome. You need to have Allo downloaded on your Android smartphone to use this feature, first of all. Open Allo for web on Chrome, then on your smartphone, open the Menu section, tap on Allow for Web, and scan the QR code. After this, you can start using Allo on web and on your smartphone simultaneously. ALSO READ: Google Allo fails to compete against WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger in India
