Google announces 'Launchpad Accelerator' program in India to mentor AI and ML startups

Google has already shortlisted 10 Indian startups from across India, and taking new applications until July 31.

Google has announced the India chapter of its ‘Launchpad Accelerator’ mentorship program on Tuesday. The company says India focused accelerator program is building on Google’s “Solve for India” roadshow from last year. The program has been designed to grow the artificial intelligence/ machine learning (AI/ML) ecosystem in India, by helping Indian startups build scalable solutions for India’s unique problems, noted Google in a press release.

Google has already shortlisted 10 Indian startups from across India. These underwent four days in one-on-one consults with experts from Google and mentors from the industry to solve critical product and growth challenges.

The Launchpad Accelerator India applications for the first class is open until July 31, 12pm IST. The first session will start in September 2018. The eligibility criteria list for mentoring program notes that you need to be a technology startup based in India, have preferably at least raised seed funding, uses advanced technology like AI/ML to power the solution and have at least build a solution that addresses a real challenge.

As part of the Launchpad Accelerator program India, the shortlisted startups will go through extensive mentorship and support from the best of Google in AI/ML, Cloud, UX, Android, Web, Product Strategy and Marketing.

Recently, OnePlus also announced the launch of its “OnePlus Student Ambassador Program” for India, which starts from September 1. The company claims that this program is dedicated for its fans and “other technology fans” across universities across the country. OnePlus aims at empowering and later grooming select students from across the country so that these students can serve as ‘OnePlus community specialists’, technology experts and even ‘brand evangelists’ in their respective universities and/or colleges.
