Google brings its stock Android keyboard as a standalone app to the Play Store

Google’s stock Android keyboard so far has been exclusive only to Nexus device users. But not for long, as the folks at Android Police have spotted the stock keyboard app available on the Play Store as a standalone app.

The stock keyboard app offers users all the features that Google introduced with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, including the likes of gesture typing, voice typing, word completion and suggestions. Additionally, the app includes a dictionary for 26 languages and lets users choose between advanced keyboard layouts and skins. We believe the stock Android keyboard is the best available on Android and it is a pity that most vendors tend to add their own keyboard, disabling the stock one.

The app is compatible with an Android smartphone or tablet running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and above. Sadly the app is not available for India at the moment, but you can still download and install the keyboard using the APKs provided here.
