Google Doodle celebrates archaeologist Howard Carter
Google today put up a doodle to celebrate the birthday of archaeologist Howard Carter, who first discovered the tomb of Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun. The doodle portrays Carter examining artifacts found in the tomb.
Carter was the first person to have stepped into the tomb over 33 centuries after it was sealed. Tutankhamun’s tomb has been one of the best preserved and fully intact tombs in Egypt’s Valley of the Kings. he breached the tomb with a chisel gifted by his grandmother on his seventeenth birthday. Oer 5,000 artifacts were found in the tomb, making it one of the biggest finds in Egyptian history. Carter has also been the inspiration behind Indiana Jones among other movies.
