Google Go, Files Go for Android users launched in India: Everything you need to know

Google today conducted the third edition of its annual ‘Google for India’ event in Delhi. At the event, the tech giant announced several new India-first products and features including Android Oreo (Go edition). However, that is not all that Google announced. The company also announced Google Go and Files Go features among many others.

Google Go is a tailor-made app for first-time internet users who mostly use entry-level devices to get their job done. Google Go comes with three features. The fist is a tap-first user interface that helps users explore ideas, and find things around the web. The second feature is that the new Google Go app comes with small app size and lastly, Google has made it easy to switch between languages, for instance, Hindi and English. As of now, it works with ten Indian languages- Hindi, Bengali, Gujrati, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. The new customized Go app is said to consume 40 percent less data. Google Go is available as a preview starting today on the Google Play Store in India.

Coming to Google Files Go; its a new app by Google that helps free up space, find files faster and share files offline with people nearby. The app has been custom built for Go edition devices.  Files Go simple interface that can give users quick insights about all the files and folders on your device. The app automatically scans for duplicate apps and allows you to ditch the ones that are not needed, identifies large files, and gives you different tips on how to save some extra storage out of your phone.

The Files Go app is also said to create a closed network that can be accessible only by approved smartphones in any particular area to share files by creating a hotspot. Google claims that the files transfers are 200 times faster than Bluetooth transfers. Starting today, Files Go will be globally available on the Google Play Store for all phones running Android 5.0 Lollipop and higher.

Apart from that, Google has also announced lite versions of all its apps including-  Google Go, Google Maps Go, Gmail Go, YouTube Go, Google Assistant Go, Gboard, Chrome, and Play. The company is also said to be working on Android Go, its operating system designed specifically for low-end Android devices with low memory and data usage. The Go Edition comes with improved speed and reliability with 15 percent faster app performance.
