Now that Facebook and Microsoft have detailed their respective visions to developers, it is the turn of the other tech giant to show what it has in store. Google I/O 2018, the annual developer conference hosted by the search giant will be held from May 8 to May 10, 2018 at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California.
Google is the behemoth here in terms of internet technologies and its products touch more consumers than any other tech company in the world. Google’s mobile operating system, Android, is used by over a billion people globally while both Gmail and YouTube also have over a billion active users. Google is the leader in online advertisements and it is the go-to the destination when you have to find new information online. Google has great power but I/O 2018 will show whether it has great responsibility to protect consumers using these platforms.
Google I/O 2018, being held in the wake of Facebook-Cambridge Analytica scandal, will shed light on how search giant plans to tackle user privacy and how it helps to limit tech addiction among consumers. It is also expected to detail new achievements in the fields of Artificial Intelligence but might underplay the context due to skepticism surrounding the technology. It is almost confirmed that Google will debut second developer preview of Android P and might show the future of its wearable ecosystem, which was rebranded to WearOS recently. Google CEO Sundar Pichai and his colleagues will have a lot to talk about at the event but developers will be looking for answers to the next frontier in computational technology.
