Google has announced that it is rolling out the improved “Explore Nearby” tab Google Maps. The new “Explore Nearby” tab is aimed at bringing improvements to how users exploring the city they are in or the city they are planning to visit along with the better discovery of food joints. The company revealed the rollout in a dedicated post on its official blog. According to the post, the new “Explore Nearby” tab will give users quick recommendations about the best restaurants, cafes, and bars nearby or any area on the map that the user is interested in.
This feature is available for both type of users, who want to better explore their city or the ones who want to visit a particular city as part of a trip. The company will use its algorithms and local experts to suggest trending lists to users about a particular city or portion of the city. Users can follow the lists, share them with their friends, view them on the map and even keep a track of the places that they have visited from the list.

The tab will also keep a track of the top events and activities that are scheduled to take place in the area nearby in Google Maps for Android. Users can check related photos and description of the event to decide which event they want to attend.
All the restaurants and bars will come with a “Your match” section which will give a rating of how much Google thinks that you will like the place according to your preferences. This makes it easier for the algorithm to suggest you places with an easy to understand score along with helping in making decisions about visiting a particular restaurant quicker without the need to scroll through reviews.
The company is also rolling out a new “For you” tab where Google will show “everything happening” in the area that the user cares about. This makes it easier for the users to see if a new restaurant or a cafe is opening in the area nearby. “For you” tab is limited to US, IK, Canada, Australia, and Japan on Google Maps for Android. Google Maps users need to ensure that they are running the latest version of the app on their device to get this new feature.
