Google will be releasing the next iteration of its mobile operating system, Android later this year. Google has so far released the Developer Preview and Beta version of Android O. The next release will be the official update of Android O which should happen sometime around September, going by Google’s schedule. It is now learnt that Google could be releasing the official Android O update early this year by the first or second week of August. The Google Pixel and Pixel XL are said to be the first devices to receive it.
This information comes from Android Police’s David Ruddock who tweeted saying, “The official OTA to Android O for Pixel will likely drop in the first week or two of August. A bit earlier than Nexuses / Nougat last year.” Google will release the Android O via an OTA update to its Pixel devices, the Pixel and Pixel XL first according to this report. The Nexus devices are usually the first to receive the latest Android OS update. However, the Nexus devices are also expected to receive the Android O official update soon after.
