Nothing gets more official for an upcoming version of Android than having its namesake statute on the lawn outside Building 44 in Googleplex. Well, say hello to Android Jelly Bean, which got its statute installed along with the likes of Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Honeycomb and Ice Cream Sandwich – all codenames of earlier versions of Android.

Little is known about what’s new with Jelly Bean, which will be announced in less than 24 hours at Google I/O developer summit. All we know at the moment is it is likely to improve the UI when used on tablets and Android could also get a Siri-like voice assistant, which is currently called Majel internally. Of course, we might also get to see the first tablet running Android Jelly Bean, called the Nexus 7.
