HCL launches Android ICS ME U1 and MyEdu tablets in India, starts from Rs 7,999

HCL has launched two budget Android tablets in the country – the  ME U1 and MyEdu tab, which run the latest version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich, out of the box.

The ME U1 tablet runs a 1GHz processor, with a 7-inch capacitive display with a resolution of 800×480 pixels. Besides this, the tablet also packs in 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory, a front facing camera, a full USB port, a mini USB port and a micro SD card slot. As far as battery life is concerned the device has a 3600 mAh battery and can also be connected to a 3G network via an USB modem. Notably, the device has a preloaded ME app store which has 10,000 applications. HCL is also bundling free goodies worth Rs 3,000 from Hungama.com, cleartrip.com and many more. The device is priced at Rs 7,999.

HCL also has a tablet geared towards eduction called the MyEdu tab. Hardware wise, the MyEdu tab is identical to the ME U1 except for the fact it offers numerous software packages meant for educational purposes. It is offered in two different versions with varying preloaded content. The K12 model provides a lot of educational content in form of apps and also packs NCERT books for free with a memory card. This model costs Rs 11,499.

The higher-education variant of the MyEdu Tab costs Rs 9,999 and provides multimedia content for technical and professional skills and apps.
