Honor 5C likely to launch in India tomorrow: Here’s what you need to know

The Honor 5C is likely to be an affordable smartphone that will compete with Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and LeEco Le 2.

Huawei s sub-brand Honor is hosting an event in New Delhi tomorrow, where it is widely expected to launch the Honor 5C. The smartphone was launched in China earlier this year, and today the company also launched it in Europe. Successor to last year s Honor 4C, the new smartphone features a metal unibody design and is powered by a Kirin 650 octa-core chipset built on 16nm fabrication process.

There is, however, one small difference between the European and Asian model the European one lacks a fingerprint scanner. It remains to be seen which variant Honor releases in India. The Chinese variant is priced at 999 Yuan, which is approximately Rs 10,200 in India, whereas the European variant is priced at 199 Euros, which is approximately Rs 15,200. While the details about India pricing are scarce at the moment, the smartphone is likely to take compete with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and LeEco Le 2.

Honor 5C specifications, features: The smartphone features a 5.2-inch full HD (1080p) IPS LCD display. It is powered by Huawei s in-house Kirin 650 octa-core processor with eight Cortex-A53 cores where four are clocked at 1.7GHz and the other four are clocked at 2.1GHz.

With 16GB of onboard storage, a microSD card slot for further expansion up to 128GB is also present. The Honor 5C sports a 13-megapixel rear camera of aperture f/2.0 and LED flash, and an 8-megapixel selfie camera of aperture f/2.0 aperture. Armed with a 3,000mAh battery the smartphone includes connectivity options such as dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. On the software front, the Honor 5C runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS wrapped under EMUI 4.1.
