Honor launched its affordable premium smartphone, the Honor Play in India yesterday. The smartphone comes with a flagship Kirin 970 CPU and a mid-range starting price of Rs 19,999. Now, it looks like Honor has another affordable flagship smartphone in the offing and it could be called the Honor 8X.
The Honor 8X has been allegedly certified by Chinese agency MIIT and the listing shows that the smartphone carries model number as JSN-AL00. While the listing, spotted by 91mobiles, does not reveal any specifications of the upcoming smartphone, it does state that the Honor 8X will come with support for 4G LTE network. As the name implies, the Honor 8X could be the successor to Honor 7X that was launched in India towards the end of last year.
There is no clarity on the final features of Honor 8X just yet but it is expected to come with updated specifications compared to Honor 7X from last year. It could feature a larger 6-inch display with taller aspect ratio of 18:9. It could use the octa-core Kirin 659 CPU paired with 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB expandable storage.
There is also a possibility of Honor offering the new Kirin 710 CPU based on the 12nm process. Since the Honor 7X has dual rear camera setup with 16-megapixel and 2-megapixel sensors, the Honor 8X might offer an improved camera layout. It might offer a larger battery and run on EMUI 8.2 based on Android Oreo.
