Honor India, the sub-brand for Huawei has just announced the rollout of its Android 8.0 Oreo update for its Honor 7X devices. The company announced the rollout of Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 updated in a response to a query by a Twitter user confirming if the rollout had started. The company added that it has “rolled out the latest Operating system Android Oreo for Honor 7X to its users in batches”. It also claimed that EMUI 8.0 brings “rich features” along with “better user experience”.
Though the company claims that the update is rolling out the latest Android version, the update is based on Android 8.0 Oreo instead of the latest stable version, Android 8.1 Oreo. The reason Honor India has rolled out the update “in batches” is to make sure that there are no hidden bugs in the system that can cripple the entire system, affecting a large number of 7X users at once.
Batched roll out or incremental roll out allows the company to keep a close watch on any bugs that it may have missed so that it can stop the update in case things are not as intended. So if the update has not reached your device then it will gradually reach your device. The update comes almost a month after Honor rolled out the update for 7X users in the United States of America.
Some of the changes included in EMUI 8.0 include ride more, game suit that includes a number of system modes optimized for when users want to game and Paytm integration where users can directly access Paytm payments page. P Sanjeev, the Vice President of Sales for Huawei Consumer Business Group added, “The upgraded EMUI 8.0 is avant-garde technological software which is efficient, secure and above all user friendly. Enabling the user to reach 90% of the core functions in just 3 clicks, EMUI 8.0 is for those who live and work on-the-go.”
