Honor Note 10 launched in China
The Honor Note 10 has been launched in China today, and is a larger version of the Honor 10 that was launched in May. The phone features a massive 6.9-inch screen, and hopes to bring back the concept of the phablet. There’s no word on whether the phone will launch in India for now.
iOS 12 beta 5 hints at dual-SIM iPhones
The latest developer preview of iOS 12 has dropped a hint that a much-anticipated feature will finally be coming to the Apple iPhone series. Some of the code hints that the 2018 iPhones could finally come with the ability to simultaneously run two SIM cards, which will be a popular feature in Asian markets such as China and India.
WhatsApp’s new group calling feature goes live
The latest feature added to WhatsApp is group calling, and it’s rolling out now for all users on Android and iOS. The feature is available for video and voice calls, and lets you have a conference call with multiple users. The feature currently supports up to four people on a single call.
OnePlus 3, 3T to get Android P / OnePlus tops premium smartphone market in India
Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus has announced that the OnePlus 3 and 3T, which were launched in 2016, are slated to be updated to Android P in the coming months. The company will be skipping Android 8.1 Oreo and going straight to Android P for these phones.
Also from OnePlus: the company has beaten Samsung and Apple to take the top position in the premium smartphone market in India. This comes as a result of strong sales of the OnePlus 6, the company’s latest smartphone.
NPCI to roll out UPI 2.0 in mid-August
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is slated to roll out UPI 2.0 in mid-August, the refreshed version of its quick digital payments interface for low-value quick funds transfers in India. UPI 1.0 was launched back in 2016, and gained prominence after the Indian Government’s demonetization policy in November 2016 as people across the country looked to cashless payments in the face of currency note shortages.
Xiaomi Mi A2 to be Amazon India exclusive
Xiaomi’s next big smartphone in India, the Android One-powered Mi A2, is slated to launch on August 8 as an Amazon India exclusive. The phone is also likely to be made available on Xiaomi’s own Mi.com/in online portal, and will eventually make its way to Mi Home stores as well.
