Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has launched has launched a new smartphone in China called Play 7. It is a budget smartphone with the key highlight being its 24-megapixel front camera. It is priced at RMB 599, which is approximately Rs 6,400, and is available in China via VMall. The smartphone is offered in Blue, Gold and Black color variants, and there is no word on whether or not it will be launched in India.
Honor Play 7 specifications and features
The Honor Play 7 features a 5.45-inch HD+ display that runs at a resolution of 720×1,440pixels, and 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood is a MediaTek MT6739 quad-core SoC paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB onboard storage. A microSD card slot for further expansion is also present.
In the photography department, the smartphone comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual tone LED flash. As mentioned above, the highlight of the smartphone is the 24-megapixel front camera of aperture f/2.0, and it comes with beauty mode and soft LED flash.

Armed with a 3,020mAh battery, the smartphone comes with connectivity options such as Bluetooth, 4G LTE, dual SIM card slots, Wi-Fi and GPS. In the software department, the Honor Play 7 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo OS with EMUI 8.1 skin on top. Sadly, the budget smartphone ditches a fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication, or face unlock.
In other news, the company is gearing to launched two Honor 7-series smartphones in India – the Honor 7C and the Honor 7A. The event is set to take place on May 22 and both smartphones will reportedly take on the Redmi 5 and Redmi Y2 smartphones.
