iOS 11 brought many new and interesting features to iPhones and iPads. Among the most useful upgrades are the revamped and customizable Control Center. Apple released a new layout for the Control Center with more controls, and most of them are also customizable from Settings. However the Control Center has also caused some confusion in terms of how the toggles work. Also, some options for functions like AirDrop icon are no longer visible. But, turns out AirDrop is present on the Control Center after all, and here’s how you can access it.

On pulling up the Control Center, you will see the connectivity toggles on the top-left corner. There you have the toggles for Airplane Mode, Mobile Data, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. If you press and hold any of these toggles, then a new menu will appear. Here, you will see the first four connectivity toggles, and two more which are AirDrop and Personal Hotspot. From here you can enable or disable either of the functions. This trick is a tad easier on iPhone 6s and above that boast 3D Touch. The process however remains the same.

After tapping on AirDrop button, you will receive three options – toggle receiving, or enable/disable AirDrop between ‘contacts only’ and ‘everyone’. Previously on iOS 10, the AirDrop option was quite visible and easily accessible on the Control Center. This time, an extra step is needed to access it. While the step is easy, it’s quite confusing as it appears as a hidden feature on iOS 11. That said, it is still way better than accessing the option by going to Settings -> General -> AirDrop. It isn’t known why Apple decided to not include AirDrop as the main icon on Control Center. The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth toggles have also caused confusion among users. Toggling Wi-Fi and Bluetooth off from the Control Center only temporarily turns them off. You need to manually turn them off from the Settings menu to switch off Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
