Planning on buying the iPhone 5? Wondering how to convert your standard SIM into a Nano SIM? Well, don’t fret as a step-by-step guide for doing the same is available. Be forewarned, it is not as simple as converting a standard SIM to a Nano SIM and we have not tried the method ourselves considering the iPhone 5 is not available, yet.

According to the how-to guide, it is advisable to attach one’s SIM to the printed template with double sided tape, then one should use a marker to outline the area that has to be cut. Once the outlines have been marked, one can cut the SIM using scissors, and one can even snip off the contacts, as the actual chip is much smaller. After this is done, one just has to round the edges with a sandpaper file. One can download the template from here and the image has to be scaled 100 percent before printing on an A4 size sheet.

We are also hearing about Nano SIM cutters, however, we cannot vouch for their effectiveness till we cannot test the SIMs on an iPhone 5.

As far as I know,nano-sims are thinner than usual sims. So,normal cutters wont be of any use, unless it teaches, how to shave off the extra thickness
