Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC has launched the HTC Desire 12 and Desire 12+ in India, with pre-orders scheduled to kick off on June 7 on the HTC India e-store. The HTC Desire 12 is priced at Rs 15,800, while the Desire 12+ will go on sale at Rs 19,790. The phones will be available on sale through HTC’s offline and online retail channels from June 11.
The two phones will be available in two color options – Cool Black and Warm Silver. Both phones are touted as screen-centric devices with a 5.5-inch HD+ 18:9 screen on the HTC Desire 12, and a 6-inch HD+ 18:9 screen on the HTC Desire 12+. The phones come with a glass back, while the more expensive HTC Desire 12+ also offers a dual-camera setup at the rear, for depth-effect shots and refocusing.
The phones come with fairly average specifications for the price, and will come across as expensive for what is being offered. Similarly specified phones from competing manufacturers are available at much less. However, HTC’s superior brand recognition, offline availability, and legacy in India could work in its favor.
