As expected, HTC launched the U11+ smartphone today. Although not a successor to the flagship smartphone, the HTC U11 – the U11+ does come with notable upgrades and features. The HTC U11+ will be available in markets across Asia and Europe, but has been confirmed not to launch in the US. In UK, the HTC U11+ will be available at £699 (approximately Rs 60,000), and in Europe it will be priced at €799 (approximately Rs 60,200).
Speaking about its design, it’s noticeable that the HTC U11+ sports a taller display with very thin bezels on each side. As compared to the HTC U11, this smartphone doesn’t have a Home button keeping every space possible for the display. For controls, there are on screen buttons on the HTC U11+. The color options are also pretty interesting as the HTC U11+ comes in Ceramic Black, Amazing Silver, and Translucent Black. The HTC U11+ in Translucent Black offers a semi-transparent rear chassis which gives you a glimpse of the smartphone’s insides.
HTC U11+ specifications
The HTC U11+ features a 6-inch Quad HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC. In terms of memory, the smartphone comes in two variants of 4GB RAM plus 64GB storage, and 6GB RAM plus 128GB storage. Also on offer is the option of expanding the storage via a microSD card. In the photography department, the HTC U11+ sports a 12-megapixel rear camera of f/1.7 aperture, and with OIS. Up front, it houses an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling. On the software front, it runs Android 8.0 Oreo with SenseUI out-of-the-box. Keeping the smartphone ticking is a 3,930mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. Its connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and USB Type-C port. The smartphone also comes with IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. The HTC U11+ also features the Edge Sense technology but a slightly refined version. Squeezing the smartphone can open an Edge launcher which has shortcuts to different apps and settings on the smartphone. For audio, the smartphone is equipped with BoomSound speakers which are said to offer 30 percent louder sound.
