It’s no secret that Huawei is working on the next-generation Mate smartphone. A recent patent filing confirmed the Mate 20 lineup, which will succeed last year’s Mate 10 smartphones. A new report has shed light on some of the top-of-the-line features the upcoming Mate 20 smartphones will come with.
Last year, Huawei launched the Mate 10 with LCD display, while the Mate 10 Pro was launched with an AMOLED display. As per Russian website hi-tech.mail.ru, the upcoming Mate 20 Pro will boast a curved OLED screen. This would be similar to what was offered on last year’s Mate RS Porsche Design smartphone.
The report further adds that Huawei has tasked China’s BOE to manufacture the curved OLED panels for the Mate 20 Pro. Last year, Huawei had taken the help of LG for the AMOLED screens. It is unclear if the regular Mate 20 will also get the OLED screen.
In addition to the curved OLED screen, the Mate 20 is also said to be coming with an in-display fingerprint sensor. This would make it the first Huawei smartphone to come with such feature.
Earlier reports have also suggested that the Mate 20 Pro could boast as many as five cameras – two at the front, and three at the back. Further, the smartphone could also be powered by Huawei’s yet-to-be-announced HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset. This chipset is said to be manufactured using the 7-nm fabrication process.

A recent leak also hinted at a feature that could be introduced on the next-generation Mate smartphones. An alleged Huawei power adapter with a maximum power output of 40W was spotted online. This is way about the 20W power adapter that ships with the Huawei P20 series. The leak also claimed that Huawei’s next-gen fast charging technology can charge a smartphone’s battery up to 90 percent in just 30 minutes.
