The Huawei P20 aka Huawei P11 (whatever they are going to call it) may launch on March 27. According to a report on TechRadar, Huawei has shared a press invite for an event on the date, which is expected to be the launch of the company’s flagship.
From what the publication reveals, the invitation does not let out much detail, but following a brief back-and-forth over what the phone will be called, the details confirming such a device seem to be falling into place.
Huawei first trademarked the P20 moniker last year in July, so we were naturally hoping that would be the successor of the Huawei P10 series, but then earlier this month Huawei also trademarked the P11 moniker. Then adding to this confusion tipster Roland Quandt leaked just two days ago, who claims that the next generation of P-series will be named as Huawei P20.
And if Quantd is to be believed, the smartphone will come in three variants, the Huawei P20, Huawei P20 Plus and Huawei P20 Lite. Internally, these devices are codenamed Emily, Charlotte and Anne, respectively. (Someone at the team is surely inspired by the Bronte sisters). He also revealed that the smartphone will be available in Ceramic Black and Twilight color options, except the Huawei P20 Lite will apparently come in Midnight Black, Klein Blue, and Sakura Pink color option.
Be it P11 or P20, Huawei is likely to skip next month’s Mobile World Congress 2018, and launch the smartphone at a separate event in late March or early April. However, this doesn’t mean that the company won’t make an appearance at the event. The company may instead showcase other products from its portfolio.
