It is confirmed that Huawei will be introducing its all-new P20 smartphone series on March 27. The series is said to include the P20, P20 Lite, and P20 Pro. Some reports have indicated in the past that the Pro version will be called Plus. However, there had been no mention of the Porsche Design edition before today.
Thanks to a posting on Weibo, we have a sneak peek at what the upcoming Huawei P20 Porsche Design edition smartphone will look like. Based on the leaked image, the purported variant will feature the long-rumored triple camera setup, which will also be present on the P20 Pro. What will possibly differentiate it from the rest of the trio is its horizontal placement of the triple-camera module. The dual cameras are separated from the third sensor with the LED flash sitting in between.
The camera setup on the new variant is also powered by Leica as evident from the branding. The new ‘P’ logo, indicative of the Porsche Design model, is also present. From the back panel, it appears the Porsche Design edition will come in matte black finish. What is interesting to note is that there is no fingerprint sensor at the back panel.
According to a report on GizmoChina, unlike the rest of the models in the series, the Porsche Design variant could pack an in-screen fingerprint sensor. The smartphone will thus be a slightly expensive, redesigned version of the P20 Pro.
In terms of specifications, the P20 and P20 Pro will pack 18:9 display, dual-cameras on the P20 and P20 Lite version, triple camera setup on the P20 Pro and P20 Porsche Design, Kirin 970 SoC under the hood, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a 4,000mAh battery. The P20 Lite, on the other hand, will be a watered down version of the high-end P20 Pro and Porsche Design with a 5.6-inch full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio, Kirin 659 SOC, 4GB of RAM, 64GB internal storage, microSD card slot, and a 3,520mAh battery.
Recently, prices of the P20 series were revealed by serial tipster Roland Quandt. Going by those, the Huawei P20 will be priced at €679 (Rs 54,000 approximately), the P20 Pro is expected at €899 (Rs 72,000 approximately), whereas the P20 Lite will be the cheapest of all, at €369 (Rs 30,000 approximately). The newly-leaked Porsche Design model is likely to cost whopping $1,400 (Rs 91,000 approximately).
