Xiaomi continues to champion the Indian smartphone market as revealed by Counterpoint Research and Apple Watch Series 3 with LTE connection is coming to India. Huawei P20 Pro, P20 Lite launched in India

Huawei is bringing its P-series flagship to India after a gap of more than year. The Chinese smartphone maker launched P20 Pro and P20 Lite at an event in New Delhi today. The Huawei P20 Pro is priced at Rs 64,999 while the P20 Lite is priced at Rs 19,999. Huawei seems to have got the pricing absolutely right with these two smartphones.

The P20 Pro is the first smartphone to switch to triple camera system and the smartphone is mainly about its camera and industrial design. It comes in a twilight color that changes its color depending on the light surrounding and it also offers a 6-inch display with taller aspect ratio and newest processor. The P20 Lite, on the other hand, is a stripped down version of Huawei’s flagship offering.

Xiaomi, Huawei grow in Indian smartphone market: Counterpoint

Xiaomi continues to surprise with strong smartphone sales in India. At the end of first quarter of 2018, Huawei increased its smartphone market share to 30 percent while its Chinese competitors Vivo, Oppo and Lenovo struggled to hold their ground. Counterpoint Research notes that Samsung maintains its position but it is Honor which made a surprise debut at number five for this quarter.

In the feature phone segment, Reliance Jio continues to grow in strengths but HMD Global is delivering challenge with strong demand for its feature phones. The Indian smartphone market overall remained flat.

LG G7 ThinQ renders leaked

LG will officially launch the G7 ThinQ at an event in New York on May 2. The smartphone will be its challenger to the likes of Apple iPhone X, Samsung Galaxy S9+ and Huawei P20 Pro. Ahead of the launch, the G7 ThinQ has leaked once again in the form of renders confirming a dedicated button to launch the Google Assistant.

It is expected to feature a notched display and use Snapdragon 845 chipset. There is not much clarity on the camera improvements this year but it is expected to be similar to last year’s V30.

OnePlus 6 Launch Date Is May 21, New Report Claims

Another day and another report claims that OnePlus 6 will be launched on May 21. A previous claimed it will launch on May 16 leading to speculations around the official launch date. The details regarding May 21 launch comes courtesy of OnePlus lab program where some OnePlus owners hand-picked for testing the smartphone ahead of its launch.

The OnePlus 6 is expected to feature a glass back, repositioned alert slider, updated camera and Snapdragon 845 chipset. It is also expected to come with some level of water resistance.

Apple Watch Series 3 Cellular Reliance Jio

Apple Watch Series 3 will soon be available in cellular variant in India. Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio announced that Apple Watch Series will be available for pre-order starting May 4 and will be available for purchase from May 11. The cellular Apple Watch Series 3 features a red-colored digital crown.

Those planning to buy cellular Apple Watch Series 3 must note that the smartwatch last only for few hours with LTE connection and must carry their charger everytime. Not a big sacrifice for the cellular connection.

Facebook reveals 25 pages of takedown rules for hate speech

The under pressure social networking giant Facebook has published 25 pages of detailed criteria that its moderators follow to take down posts for reasons including violence, spam, harassment, self-harm, terrorism, intellectual property theft, and hate speech from the platform.

This details come as the company battles governments around the world and privacy watchdog in US and Europe. Facebook has been publicly criticized for taking down posts without valid reason in the past and this transparency is a step in the right direction.
