At the launch of Huawei Mate 10 last year, the company also announced its Android Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 custom ROM. Huawei touted the new version as the in-house designed software aided by AI-powered Real-Time Scene and Object Recognition, Smart Tips, and AI Accelerated Translator. Now, after running a closed beta program for about two months, Huawei is now set to upgrade its older models to the new version.
Already running on the Honor View 10, and powering the soon-to-launch Honor 9 Lite out-of-the-box, the new version will also be soon rolling out on Honor 8 Pro, Honor 9i, Honor 7X, and Honor 8 Lite.
In terms of functionality, the EMUI 8.0 offers Intelligent Resource Allocation, Intelligent Context Awareness, User Behavior or Intelligent Behavior Prediction.
The custom ROM also engages in low memory management by allocating resources in a way to provide more space managed by its AI capabilities. The updated UI also offers one-hand operation navigation dock, pinned shortcuts, customized themes, private space optimization, simplified settings, accessibility to recently deleted documents or in general phone management.
EMUI 8.0 with its based of Android Oreo also features Smart Resolution, dynamic wallpaper, and navigation bar customisations. The software also claims to provide a much simplified interface enabling an easy single touch switching between user spaces, prompt data transfer and quick file sharing abilities.
