Chinese smartphone and electronics giant Huawei is planning to roll out its GPU Turbo technology for its older devices. The company recently revealed this new technology with the launch of its Honor Play and the Honor 9i. According to the details that the company revealed at the launch event about this technology, GPU Turbo, is a boos mode for the Mali cores present in the GPU of the device. This boost allows 60 percent increase in the performance of the cores along with 30 percent reduction in the power consumption.

The company added that it will enable this feature with the help of software updates in the future. This means that users don’t really need new hardware for improved graphics. According to a report by GizChina, He Gang, the President of Mobile Phone division at Huawei revealed the timeline for the GPU Turbo updates while talking about the technology at CES Asia 2018. According to the schedule, Huawei Mate 10 will be the first device to get the upcoming technology with other devices following a little after.

According to the expected rollout timeline, Huawei Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro and Honor View 10 will be the first ones to get the feature by the end of June. Next up, Huawei P20, P20 Pro, Huawei RS Porsche Design, Huawei Nova 2S, Honor 10, MediaPad M5 will get the update in July. After all these devices, Huawei will launch the feature for Nova 3e, Enjoy 8 Plus, Enjoy 7S, Mate 10 Lite, Honor 9 Lite, and the Honor 7X in August. Mate 9 Series will be updated with GPU Turbo in September this year.

The company will then release the feature for P10, P10 Plus, P10 Lite, Honor 9, Honor 8 Pro in October while other devices will get it in November or later. The surprising thing is that devices launched back in 2016 will also get the update for the GPU performance posts. However, this does lead us to question that if this was possible then why did Huawei not think about this at the launch of the devices.
