After its premium line of P20 smartphones, Huawei today announced a relatively affordable offering dubbed Y6 (2018). The Huawei Y6 (2018) adds to the 18:9 display devices, and boasts face unlock, speaker output as one of its highlights. The company has only announced the Huawei Y6 (2018), and there is currently no information on the pricing or availability of the smartphone.
Huawei Y6 (2018) is capable of producing 88dB at its loudest, which is claimed to deliver 78 percent more sound from the speakers while maintaining the quality of the output. It is further accentuated with Huawei’s own Histen technology that promises mimics theater quality output through earphones. As for authentication, the Huawei Y6 (2018) does not feature a standard fingerprint sensor, and instead relies on face recognition method. You can scan your face to set it as a password, and simply glance at the device to authenticate.

Equipped with a 5.7-inch HD+ (1440×720 pixels) display, the Huawei Y6 (2018) comes with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The display is layered with 2.5D curved glass for double the protection. Under the hood, Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC is paired with 2GB of RAM. There is also 16GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 256GB via microSD card.
In the photography department, Huawei Y6 (2018) sticks to the traditional single sensor systems. There’s a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. Up front, there’s a 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling. Even as the camera system is conventional, it comes with a dedicated LED flash for the front camera.

On the software front, it runs Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box with EMUI 8.0 layered atop. Keeping things ticking is a 3,000mAh battery. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, micro-USB, and GPS. The smartphone will be available in three color choices of blue, black, and gold.
