Idea is following on the footsteps of Reliance Jio to offer cashback to those who make recharge of Rs 398 or above on its network. Idea Cellular, the third largest telecom service provider in the country, has announced Magic Cashback worth Rs 3,300 for its customers who recharge using various online and digital platforms.
Idea Cellular is now offering cashback on unlimited plan recharges of Rs 398 and above done via any online channel. Idea customers will get eight recharge voucher worth Rs 50 each and these discount vouchers can be redeemed by customers on their subsequent recharges of Rs 300 and above over a period of 1 year. Customers will also get five shopping coupons worth over Rs 2,700 which can be availed at partner stores or website across a range of brands.
Idea says if its customers make the recharge via My Idea App or Idea’s website, then they can also avail the wallet cashback offer up to Rs 200. The new Magic cashback offer is applicable for all Idea prepaid customers till February 10, 2018.
“‘Magic’ as a concept was introduced by Idea a few years ago, for creating customer delight. We are now happy to extend it online as ‘Magic Cashback’, offering huge benefits worth Rs. 3300. The offer has been designed with incisive telecom and digital analytics to provide a wholesome and exciting proposition to our digital customers. We are maximizing customer gratification by complementing telecom offers with deals in other relevant categories,” said Sunil Tolani, Digital Head, Idea Cellular.
With recharge of Rs 398, Idea Cellular offers its customers 1GB data per day for a period of 70 days along with unlimited local and STD voice calls and free calls on national roaming. The plan also gives 100 SMS daily to those who make the recharge.
The announcement can be seen as a way to counter Reliance Jio’s Surprise Cashback scheme which was announced early this week. Jio is offering cashback of up to Rs 700 to those who recharge with Rs 398 in the form of eight vouchers worth Rs 50 each and additional Rs 300 cashback from wallet players.
Reliance Jio’s aggressive tariff plan and its cashback offer has forced other telecom providers to follow suit. Idea has, however, not yet responded to the Reliance Jio’s revised tariff plan called Happy New Year 2018 which was introduced early this month.
