Idea Cellular has just got the final nod from the DoT for Vodafone merger. Vodafone has already gone aggressive to take on the likes of Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel with its data plans, and now, Idea Cellular has joined the party too. Recently, the Aditya Birla Group-owned telco has come up with exciting prepaid plans, and now, with the latest Rs 295 plan, it is taking on Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio.
The Rs 295 prepaid plan comes with a validity of 42 days and also offers voice, data and SMS benefits. Users get 100 free local and national SMS daily. The plan also includes 5GB 2G/3G/4G data that is applicable through the validity. Once the 5GB data is exhausted, users will be charged 4p/10KB as usage charges, which is equivalent to Rs 4 per/MB. Talking about voice calling benefits, users will get 250 minutes of local and national calling daily, after which 1p/second will be charged, TelecomTalk report states.
Besides the daily limit, there is also a weekly (7-day) limit of 1,000 minutes, after which 1p/sec will be charged for outgoing calls. Lastly, users can call 100 unique numbers in a week, and beyond that also 1p/sec will be charged.
Talking about competition, Airtel recently unveiled a Rs 299 prepaid plan that comes with a validity of 45 days. But unlike others, this is strictly a voice plan, where users get unlimited outgoing calls without any FUP restrictions. And it does not include any data or SMS benefits.
Meanwhile, Reliance Jio also has a Rs 299 prepaid plan that offers unlimited roaming and calling without any FUP. The plan comes with 28 days validity and 3GB daily 4G data, which means over the validity, you can download up to 84GB data. Users also get complimentary access to Jio Suite of apps.
