Last month, Intex took the wraps off its first smartwatch, called the iRist, at the Mobile World Congress Shanghai 2015. The smartwatch has today gone on sale via eBay India, priced at Rs 11,999.
The iRist will start shipping from Monday onwards. Buyers purchasing the smartwatch on or before Sunday will also be entitled to a free Bluetooth speaker, worth Rs 1,500.
Unlike many smartwatches that need to be connected to a smartphone, Intex’s iRist supports 3G, and can be used as a standalone device to make and receive calls as well as send text messages. It features a square design with dimensions of 44x44x14mm, and weighs 83 grams. It is also capable of surviving outdoors with dust and water resistant capabilities.
As for specifications, it sports a 1.56-inch (240×240 pixels) OLED display, and is powered by a 1.2GHz MediaTek MT6572 dual-core processor paired with 512MB of RAM. Also on offer is 4GB internal storage, of which around 1.3GB will be available for use.
The iRist also features a 5-megapixel camera with 720p video recording capabilities, connectivity options like Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, USB, GPS, and on the software front, it runs on Android 4.4.2. It also includes a 600mAh battery, which the company claims is good enough for 240 minutes of talktime and up to 200 hours on standby mode.
