Intex’s plans to launch a smartwatch were prematurely revealed, when banners of the iRist were spotted at Mobile World Congress Shanghai 2015. Today, the company has officially taken the wraps off the wearable, which is priced at Rs 11,999 and will be exclusively available via eBay India.
Unlike some of the popular Android Wear smartwatches, the Intex iRist features a square design with dimensions of 44x44x14mm, and weighs 83 grams. The smartwatch is able to survive outdoors with dust and water resistant capabilities, and a 600mAh battery, which the company claims is good enough for 240 minutes of talktime and up to 200 hours on standby mode.
As far as specifications are concerned, the iRist flaunts a 1.56-inch OLED display with a resolution of 240×240 pixels, and is powered by a 1.2GHz MediaTek MT6572 dual-core processor. The smartwatch also offers 512MB of RAM, and 4GB internal storage, of which around 1.3GB will be available for use.
The iRist also features a 5-megapixel camera with 720p video recording capabilities and features like scene mode, zoom, color effects, face detection, and self timer among others. With a single-SIM card slot and 3G support, the iRist can also be used as a standalone device to make and receive calls as well as send text messages.
Other connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, USB, GPS, and on the software front, it runs on Android 4.4.2.
