iPhone 6 leaked cases point at a completely new design

We may be a few months away from the unveiling of the first iPhone 6, but that is not stopping case manufacturers from leaking photos of purported cases meant for the new iPhones. The folks at French website NoWhereElse.fr have spotted a photo of two cases that will supposedly fit a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6.

The cases leaked by MobileFun.co.uk will not fit any known iPhones and boast a completely new design. For one, the cases have an opening for the power button on the side instead of the top, which is where Apple is expected to shift the button. There is also a big hole at the left top corner where the camera is housed, but the opening is slightly bigger than usual.

There are quite a few details that are inconsistent with the recently leaked renders, which were designed using a set of leaked schematics. The press renders showed a device which was slim and also featured curved edges.

It is a bit difficult to comment on the authenticity of the above image, especially when you consider the timing of the leak. With the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 not expected to arrive until the end of the year, it is way too early for a case manufacturer to have got its hands on a device. Nowhereelse.fr also cautions that MobileFun.co.uk hasn’t typically been a hotbed for accurate leaks in the past.
