It has been rumored for some time that Apple plans on launching three new iPhones this September. Two of the phone are likely to be successors of the iPhone X, featuring the same design and premium hardware. The third one however, is rumored to be a budget variant that will feature an LCD screen and will possibly be available in multiple color options.
According to the analyst Jun Zhang, the color variants of the iPhone will be designed to cater to the younger audience. There is still no word of what the phone will be called. Zhang mentioned it to be the iPhone 8S, but other leaks in the past have suggested that it will just called the iPhone. Besides that, Zhang also believes that Apple is introducing color variants on the new iPhone to distinguish it from the other premium variants.
The leak mentions that the LCD-bearing iPhone will be available in blue, yellow and pink variants. However, if we had to consider the 5C, there is a good chance we might also get to see white and green variants. There have also been questions about the iPhone’s build quality. Judging by Apple’s reputation, the company might skip plastic, used with the 5C, and adhere to using aluminum.
Watch: Apple iPhone X Review
With the affordable iPhone, Apple would not only be targeting the younger generation, but also consumers who have a limited budget. That doesn’t sound as crazy, because we’ve seen Apple shift its focus to the budget segment lately. However, it’s still too soon to comment on. Currently, all of Zhang’s comments on the matter are speculations and should be taken with a pinch of salt.
