Journey wins the Game of the Year, Dishonored gets Audience Choice Award

The best games from last year were honored during the 13th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards ceremony at the ongoing GDC, and PS3 exclusive, Journey, took home as many as six awards including the highly coveted Game of the Year.

Journey, developed by Thatgamecompany, was released last year on Sony’s PSN and has been a rage ever since because of its unusual nature of gameplay. The game has you controlling a silent character on a trip to a distant mountain across a never-ending desert. Along with the Game of the Year, Journey also came up top in other categories like Best Audio, Best Game Design, Best Visual Arts, Best Downloadable Game, and the Innovation Award.

Besides Journey, other notable winners includes stealth action-adventure Dishonored from Arkane Studios and Bethesda, which won the first ever Audience Choice Award. TV-adaptation The Walking Dead won the Best Narrative, Best Debut went to FTL: Faster Than Light, Best Technology went to Far Cry 3, and the Best Handheld/Mobile Game went to The Room, an iOS game that released in September.
