Karbonn today launched a new camera-centric smartphone called Frames S9. The budget smartphone features a dual camera setup at the front, which the company calls Twinfie camera. Priced at Rs 6,790, the smartphone will be available on Flipkart, Amazon India and other retail outlets. The smartphone will go heads on with the Xiaomi Redmi 5A which starts at Rs 5,999, and the top model with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage is available for Rs 6,999.
The key highlight of Frames S9 is the dual camera setup at the front. It consists of two 8-megapixel sensors that feature several modes, including Bokeh Mode, Soft Twinfie, Watermark, and a Group Twinfie mode (120-degree wide angle). At the back, the Frames S9 features an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash.

The phone is powered by a quad-core SoC clocked at 1.2GHz paired with 2GB of RAM. You also get 16GB of internal storage, expandable up to 64GB using a microSD card. Karbonn is also offering 15GB of cloud storage. Connectivity options include 4G-VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a micro USB port. The smartphone features a 5.2-inch HD (1280 x 720) display.

Frames S9 runs on Android 7 Nougat out-of-box, which is a little outdated and there is no word on Android Oreo update yet. The smartphone is armed with a 2,900mAh battery. For biometric authentication, you also get a fingerprint sensor at the back. The Frames S9 is offered in three storage variants – Black, Champagne, and Grey. Karbonn has also partnered with Airtel to offer a cashback of Rs 2,000 on the smartphone.
