Lava is set to release a smartphone loaded with a high-quality wide-angle selfie camera and a front facing flash. The smartphone will be a part of Lava’s X series and is slated to cost under Rs 10,000.
Not much is known about the device at the moment, apart from the fact that it will have a 5-inch display and will run on Android KitKat.
Lava isn’t the first Indian smartphone brand to cash in on the selfie craze. Only yesterday rival Karbonn announced the Titanium S19 for Rs 8,999 that has a 5-megapixel front facing camera. However, it lacks flash for taking selfies under low-light conditions.
Apart from Indian smartphone brands, even Microsoft is expected to unveil the Lumia 730 Windows Phone smartphone, which too is expected to have a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
Chinese smartphone vendor Xiaomi too is in the fray to enter the selfie smartphone segment with its upcoming Redmi Note phablet. It has a pair of 5-megapixel front and 13-megapixel rear cameras and is priced at Rs 9,999.
