Lenovo today has launched the A7-50 Android tablet priced at Rs 15,499 in India, which features a 7-inch HD display and a quad-core processor.

The Lenovo A7-50 tablet flaunts a 7-inch HD (1,280×800 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek 8382 quad-core processor coupled with 1GB RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. On the photography front, it has a 5-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front-facing cameras, both of which have fixed focus. Connectivity options in the tablet include single-SIM support, 3G HSPA+ network support with voice calling, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS/AGPS.

It comes with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, but the company has mentioned that it will be upgraded to KitKat version. Additional features in the tablet include microSD card slot, sensors like accelerometer and proximity sensor (only on the 3G model). It houses a 3,450mAh battery which can last for up to 8 hours on usage, and provides a standby time of up to two weeks.

At this price point, the Lenovo A7-50 will be up against the likes of the Nexus 7 (2013 edition), which comes with a 7-inch full HD IPS (1,920×1,200 pixels) display, which is better than the display on the Lenovo A7-50. It is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor clocked at 1.5GHz and paired with Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM. Other features in the tablet include a 5-megapixel rear camera and 1.2-megapixel secondary camera, and a 3,950mAh non-removable battery. The Nexus 7 now runs on Android 4.4.3 KitKat, which was updated a couple of days back. However, the 3G version of the Nexus 7 is priced at Rs 22,999 and you cannot make voice calls from it.

The Lenovo A7-50 will also compete against the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 211 which comes with a 7-inch display with 1,024×600 pixels resolution and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Other features in the tablet include a 3-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 4,000mAh battery. Connectivity options include of 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS/AGPS. Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 3 T211 tablet is available for Rs 15,999.

Will someone stop these companies from releasing inferior products again and again? My Moto G has better specs than that and you could simply go for the Nexus 7 old or new one which is much better than this stupid tablet!
