Lenovo K8 Note and Moto Z2 Play are next in the list of smartphones getting Android Oreo update in India. Motorola and its parent Lenovo have started seeding the public release of Android Oreo to both these models.
Lenovo K8 Note was launched in August last year, and it came with Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Now, the smartphone is being updated to Android Oreo, which is being pushed in the form of an over-the-air (OTA) update. The update is around 1GB in size. The official consumer forum of Lenovo confirms that the software upgradation process will cause the battery to drain a lot, and might even lead to overheating for several days.
“The upgrade itself uses a good deal of power, and it continues to use power over the following hours as all of your apps and systems update. This is perfectly normal and can lead to temporarily shortened battery life and higher temperatures,” Forum manager Matt wrote.
On the Moto Z2 Play, the update is a little over 1GB, and includes security patch for the month of April. Lenovo notes that the update is being rolled out in a phased manner, and will take a few days to reach all K8 Note and Moto Z2 Play users.
As soon as the update is ready for your smartphone, a notification will pop up alerting you to get the latest software. By clicking, “Yes, I’m in” icon, Lenovo K8 Note and Moto Z2 Play users can initiate download, and then select Install now to update their smartphones. During the update process, your phone will restart automatically, and you will have to wait until the “your phone is now updated” screen to get started with it once again.
However, if you haven’t received the update notification and are curious, then you can manually check for update by heading to Settings -> About Phone -> Check System Update. If the update is available, then you will see option to download it from there.
