After teasing for a long time, Lenovo has finally unveiled the S5 smartphone at an event in China today. The highlight of the smartphone is its full HD+ 18:9 display, and dual rear cameras. Lenovo S5 also comes with face recognition feature to unlock the smartphone.
Featuring a full metal body made from series 6000 aluminum, the Lenovo S5 has a smooth surface that is a result of seven CNC process and nano-injection followed by sandblasting, diamond trimming, and anodizing. Along with the S5, Lenovo also unveiled the budget-friendly K5 and K5 Lite smartphones.
Lenovo S5 price
The Lenovo S5 will be offered in three storage variants – 3GB RAM with 32GB storage priced at RMB 999 (approximately Rs 10,300), and 3GB RAM with 64GB storage variant priced at RMB 1,199 (approximately Rs 12,350). Lastly, the top variant with 4GB of RAM and 128GB storage will set you back by RMB 1,499 (approximately Rs 15,450). At this price point, the smartphone will closely compete with the likes of Honor 9 Lite and Xiaomi Redmi 5 Pro in India.
Offered in black and red color options, pre-bookings for the smartphone have already started, and it will go on sale starting March 23 in China, GizmoChina reports. However, there is no word on when it will be launched in India.
Lenovo S5 specifications and features
The smartphone houses a 5.7-inch full HD+ IPS LCD display running at a resolution of 2160×1080 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC, which is about a year old, but known for offering a right balance between power and efficiency.
In the photography department, you get dual-camera setup at the back featuring a 13-megapixel RGB (color) sensor and a 13-megapixel monochrome sensor, both featuring an aperture of f/2.2. The setup allows you to capture better photos in daylight and low-light scenarios, while also letting you add DSLR-like bokeh effects to your photos. Up front is a 16-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calling. The front camera can also be used for face recognition to unlock your smartphone.
Armed with a 3,000mAh battery, the smartphone includes connectivity options such as Bluetooth, 4G VoLTE, dual-SIM card slots, Wi-Fi and GPS. In the software department, the smartphone runs Android 8.0 Oreo OS out-of-the-box with a layer of ZUI 4.0 running on top. ZUI also replaces the on-screen Android navigation buttons in favor of screen gestures.
