Lenovo has slashed the price of the Vibe X smartphone, which will now be available for Rs 22,999 instead of its launch price of Rs 25,999 in India. In addition to that, the company has also announced that it will start rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Vibe X and Vibe Z smartphones from the last week of May, 2014. Recently Xolo too had confirmed KitKat update for a few of its smartphones.
There have been a slew of products launched in the Rs 20,000-Rs 25,000 price range since December last year, when Lenovo had launched the Vibe X in India. Some of the most talked about phone in this price segment include Motorola’s Moto X and HTC Desire 816 which have been getting raving reviews for their specifications and features in this price range. In addition to that the company must also be facing a tough competition from local players like Micromax and Xolo which have smartphone offerings with similar specifications but at a comparatively lower price point.
Just to give a quick recap of its specifications, the Vibe X flaunts a 5-inch full HD IPS (1920×1080 pixels) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek 6589T chipset with 2GB of RAM and sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and LED flash and a 5-megapixel front facing camera. It has 16GB of internal storage but no microSD card slot. The phone houses a 2,000mAh battery and runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
