After months of speculation and countless leaks, we finally have an official launch date for the Meizu 16 and the Meizu 16 Plus. The company announced two days ago that it will be launching the two smartphones on August 8, which is interestingly a day before Samsung plans on unveiling the Galaxy Note 9.

While it was previously suggested, the launch poster spotted by Gizmochina confirms the two devices to support an in-display fingerprint sensor. The Chinese company announced that it will be also be launching the Meizu Gravity speakers alongside the two smartphones.

Based on previous rumors, the Meizu 16 is said to feature a 6-inch display, and a 2,950mAh battery. It is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 710 SoC running alongside 6GB of RAM. The Meizu 16 Plus, on the other hand, is expected to feature a Snapdragon 845 SoC, with 8GB of RAM. It will come with a 6.5-inch screen, and a 3,570mAh battery.

While a triple rear camera setup was touted on the Meizu 16 Plus, it looks both smartphones will stick to a dual-rear camera setup, which includes a 20-megapixel sensor running alongside a 12-megapixel sensor. At the front, both smartphones are also expected to come with a 20-megapixel camera for taking selfies. In the software department, the devices are said to be running Android 8.0 Oreo operating system.

Meizu’s Senior Vice President, Li Nan also posted some renders of the two smartphones recently, in order to give customers a better look at the devices. The images confirmed the smartphones to carry tall displays with non-existent bezels, further hinting at a high screen-to-body ratio. Based on the images, it looks like the smartphones will also feature a metal frame, and a curved glass coating.
