The Meizu Pro 7 has already seen multiple leaks and the smartphone has long been rumored to be arriving this month. The official launch date has now been set as Meizu has reportedly started sending invites for an event on July 26. According to rumors, not just, the Meizu Pro 7 but even the Meizu Pro 7 Plus is expected to debut on July 26. The phones will first be announced for the China market, post which there might be a global launch later.
The company made the announcement about the upcoming smartphone on Weibo, the Chinese social networking site. The teaser shows a huge 7 with Meizu using the Meizu Pro 7 hashtag. The smartphone will be announced at Zhuhai Opera House on the 26 July at 7:30 PM CST (4.30 PM IST). The image does not reveal anything more. The post, however, mentions a “window” which is supposed to be a hint at the secondary display. The secondary screen will reportedly be used for notifications, games and also taking selfies with the primary camera.
The second, smaller display has already been seen multiple times in previous leaks. The display first surfaced as a normal secondary screen and was believed to be an e-ink display as other smartphones with dual displays have used in the past. However, the next leak shows a game similar to Pacman played on the display, leading to rumors of an LCD screen. More and more reports and image leaks have emerged which have shown that the rear screen mirrors the front display and can be used for texting as well as clicking selfies with the primary camera. A leaked box with a dummy unit too appeared in the wild and showed how the smartphone will actually look. The image highlights the slim feel and also shows the front display without any side bezels. The bottom bezel is surprisingly chunkier than the top. The rear display is placed right below the camera, though the leak does not give a glimpse at the camera setup. The smartphone in the image is in black though there are other colors expected to be announced when the phone is finally unveiled on July 26.
