Micromax is all set to launch another mid-range smartphone named as the Canvas 2.2 A114 soon. The phone is not yet listed on the company’s website but is selling online for Rs 11,699. This newbie in the ‘Canvas’ family of smartphones comes equipped with a quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, among other features.
In terms of specification, this is a dual-SIM smartphone with a 5-inch qHD IPS display offering. It runs on 1.3GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. The name of the chipset vendor has not been revealed by the online seller, though keeping the earlier smartphone lineage in mind, this too is likely to be powered by a MediaTek processor. The rear of the phone comes with an 8-megapixel camera and the front has a 2-megapixel camera which can also be used for video calling over 3G network. Connectivity-wise, it has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS/AGPS, and 3G network.
The phone comes equipped with a 2,000mAh battery, which the online retailer claims will give 7 hours of talktime and 180 hours of standby time. It will also have sensors like proximity, gravity, and light sensor.
The smartphone will run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, with a standard Micromax skin on top of it which brings some addition in-house apps as well as some gesture-based features.
The phone will compete against the Intex i5 which also has a 5-inch qHD display, a quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and is available for approximately Rs 11,000 online.
