We had reported earlier that Micromax is slated to release a budget octa-core smartphone on August 15. On the eve of Independence, Micromax has indeed launched a new octa-core smartphone called the Canvas Knight Cameo A290 and is now available online for purchase.
The phone dons 4.7-inch 720p display and runs on a Mediatek 1.4GHz octa-core processor that featured earlier in the Canvas Knight and Canvas Gold. Running on Android KitKat 4.4.2, the device comes with 8GB internal memory with explandable memory upto 32GB via microSD card. The Canvas Knight Cameo also features 1GB of RAM, 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front facing camera. Various connectivity options like Wi-Fi, GPRS and Bluetooth are enabled on the device.
The Micromax Canvas Knight Cameo is a dual-SIM smartphone with 3G connectivity. It is powered with a battery capacity of 2,010mAh claiming a talk time of 9 hours and stand by time of 280 hours.
Micromax even hinted the release of the A290 with the Roobaroo song that was released a few days ago to commemorate Independence Day where 10 artists sung in 9 different languages.
The Canvas Knight Cameo is the cheapest in the octa-core segment in the below Rs15,000 range available in the market. The other closest option is the Panasonic P81 which costs Rs 16,130 and supports Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2.
